MIRACLE

2016

Sylvie Fleury is a Swiss artist who created MIRACLE in 2016, a luminous work made of metal and neon. Now part of the collections of the FCAC and the FMAC, the work was designed for “Wanderlust,” the Swiss House at the UEFA European Championship in Paris. It currently bathes the raw concrete of the lobby and stairwell at the Comédie de Genève in pink light. In her practice, the artist likes to use slogans filled with optimism and universalism. Interested in consumerism, Sylvie Fleury draws on the model of the illuminated advertising sign to create MIRACLE, referencing a famous perfume. Through this work, the artist invites us to reflect on our habits and our consumption patterns. The work also invites us to question the ubiquitous advertising in a city, the neon signs found on so many buildings. It is also a way of subverting this advertising phenomenon, much like the works of Neon Parallax on the Plaine de Plainpalais.
