What roles do soil texture and structure play, what is soil pH and how should it be interpreted, what role do earthworms play, what simple tests can be carried out at home, and how should their results be interpreted?
Soil is the foundation of any healthy garden, yet it remains often poorly understood. This workshop, led by Sols Vivants, a consultancy specialising in soil fertility studies, invites participants to discover how to better understand their soil in order to adapt their practices and support plant growth.
Why is this important? Because soil quality directly affects water and nutrient availability, plant health, and garden biodiversity. A well-understood soil leads to a more resilient, productive, and easier-to-maintain garden.
During this workshop, participants will learn to observe and assess different aspects of soil: its texture, structure, pH, and biological life (organic matter, earthworms). Simple and accessible methods will be presented so that everyone can reproduce these observations at home.
This workshop is open to all—adults and children alike, beginners or experienced gardeners—who are curious to better understand the soil around them.
Workshop offered by Dr. Xavier Dupla
