As part of the (re)connecting.earth – Sensitive Resources Biennial, Ciné Actuel is hosting a screening of Florian Geyer’s film Soufre (47 min).
Produced in 2005 as part of a master’s degree in visual anthropology at Nanterre, this film follows the daily life of Sukarman, a sulfur porter in a mine in Indonesia, over the course of 24 hours. By focusing on the body at work and the extraction of raw materials, Soufre explores the human realities tied to natural resources.
The film has been broadcast on Arte and screened at numerous festivals, where it received the SCAM Discovery Award as well as a special jury prize at the RIDM in Montreal.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the audience in the presence of the director Florian Geyer.
